Benefits and Advantages of Private Christian Schools

» Selecting A Private School

Faith, community and academics are hallmarks of Private Christian Schools. These principles set them apart from public schools and make them an excellent choice for parents who desire a complete education for their children.

Faith

Private Christian Schools focus not only on a child’s academic development but also their spiritual journey. A good Private Christian School encourages an open discussion not only on academic subjects, but also matters of faith, spirituality and morality, areas that are necessarily avoided at public schools.

Choosing a school that matches your belief system and personal values is important. Private Christian Schools follow Biblical convictions and endeavor to instill Christian values in their students. Religious education is mandatory in most Christian Private Schools and parents appreciate this supplemental education to the education they receive at church and at home.

Faith is a component of every subject taught in a Private Christian School and often the relationship between the subject matter and the Bible is openly discussed.

For Christian Boarding Schools, attendance at weekly services is also mandatory. This instills in the student a deep appreciation for church attendance that lasts well into their adult years when they have a family of their own.

Community

As with other aspects of a Christian’s life, a Private Christian School fosters a community among its students and family. Family members are invited to participate in the school’s events, many of which center around the child’s spiritual development. By keeping families involved in a student’s academic and spiritual journey, Private Christian Schools are able to extend a child’s learning into his home and community.

Also, most Private Christian Schools are associated with a Church in the local community. This association helps bring the school and community together creating opportunities for students to engage in community service projects, and extend their personal ministry into the community.

Perhaps most importantly, students can express their spiritual convictions openly without fear of ridicule or alienation from their peers.

Academics

Like other successful Private Schools, Private Christian Schools excel at academics. With zero-tolerance policies for bullying, a dress code and codes of conduct, Private Christian Schools establish a tone suitable for learning. Students feel safe and are not distracted by unnecessary and disruptive influences.

Private Schools generally have smaller class sizes, so children can receive more attention from their teachers. There’s no “slipping through the cracks” at Private Christian Schools. Also, parents are encouraged to play an active role in their child’s academic achievement.

Private Christian Schools also endeavor to consistently beat standardized test averages for their geographical areas. The results speak for themselves -  some schools boast an average of more than 95% of their graduates going on to the college of their choice.

With their focus on faith, community and academics it’s easy to see why so many parents consider a Private Christian School for their children. And with almost 20,000 Private Schools identifying themselves as Christian, Lutheran, or Catholic - parents have many to choose from.
