We're lucky to have Educational Consultant Heather Johnson share her wisdom again with us this week. This time Johnson addresses an important aspect of selecting the right Boarding School for your child - understanding the school's culture.
"What [families] might not understand is, that while there are common themes among schools, each has its own culture as well."

Educational Consultant Heather Johnson speaks from her own experience about the emotions surrounding moving to a new environment - especially Boarding School.
Having recently moved across country she found herself relying on the same advice she's given students countless times.
"I found myself going away to boarding school again this fall. In fact, my whole family did. You see, this summer I moved across country ... I am beginning again in a new place with new friends, looking for anchors and support networks myself."

If you're reading this at our site, you may have noticed that not-so-subtle changes with PrivateSchoolU. If you're reading this in your RSS reader, that I'm truly amazed, because we haven't set that up yet!
After listening to the feedback we received from site users, school administrators and educational consultants we made the decision to stop further development on PrivateSchoolU in its previous form and instead start fresh with a new system. This was a tough decision, but we're now confident that this new system will be more scalable, stable and feature ready.
That's basically geek speak for "better."
Specifically here are some of the features or improvements:
Better search with more advanced search options
The ability to log in to the site using your Facebook or OpenID account info (we love remembering a bunch of different passwords as much as you do)
Integration with Google Maps
Better listings with relevant information available to the user without having to click multiple times.
The ability for schools, consultants, and users to share upcoming events like open houses and school fairs, etc.
Schools and consultants have an easier way to advertise on the site.
What hasn't changed is our commitment to providing you with timely and accurate information on private schools and educational consultants so that you can make this important decision for yourself or child.
We hope you enjoy your experience at the new site. As we said back when PrivateSchoolU first launched, this is a journey - not a destination. If you have any input, please don't hesitate to drop us an email at team@privateschoolu.com.
Thanks!
The PrivateSchoolU Team
